Joann Loftus has been making art every since she can remember. Having grown up in a creative household with a mother who is a professional artist, she has always had the influence of art in her life. Joann is a native Hoosier, born and raised in central Indiana. She maintains an in-home studio where she creates her expressionistic and whimsical art.
Majoring in art and interior design, Joann attended Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Washington. As an active member of the Indianapolis Art Center, she continues to hone her skills by attending classes. Joann is also a member of the Southside Art League in Greenwood, Indiana, and the Watercolor Society of Indiana. Joann has been taught by many regional and nationally known artists. She has studied extensively under abstract artist Shirley Despot and continues private instruction with her. In addition, Joann also takes many online classes and workshops to learn new techniques and styles. Recent additions to her offerings include small, stylized paintings of "whimsical women" and "funky females." Collectors have found these charming works of art to be the perfect piece to sit or hang in that special little spot!
Joann has been juried into numerous art shows and exhibitions, including the Midwest National Abstract Exhibition, the Indiana State Fair, the Will Vawter Show, the National Fine Arts Exhibition, and the SALI Collage Exhibition. She has also been a guest artist at K. Scott Studio at the Murphy Art Center in Indianapolis, as well as an invitational artist at the Small Works Show at Gallery 431 in Columbus, Indiana.
